Opportunity to elevate your skills - HLTSS00064 Infection Control Skill Set


The COVID-19 pandemic has served to reinforce the true importance for everyone, especially healthcare and support workers, to remain vigilant when it comes to infection control. A short, accredited infection control training course is being offered by ARC Training, at no cost to you*.

Infection prevention and control uses a risk management approach to minimise or prevent the transmission of infection. It provides an improved level of protection for you, your clients and others who are present during support sessions, and is valued by the sector and the community overall.

Course details:


  • - Self-directed online learning assessment
  • - Attend a 2-hour Digital Classroom session
  • - 1 hour online assessment session
  • - Enrolment commencing in March
  • - No cost to you (subject to eligibility*)
  • - Dedicated Trainer/Assessor and a Program Coordinator will be available to support you with extra training sessions if required.


*Applicants who are eligible for funding:


  • - Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Humanitarian Visa Holder, New Zealand citizen
  • - Live/work in QLD


The course will help you identify and manage the ongoing risk of infection. Once completed, you will be able to confidently:


  • - follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control;
  • - identify infection hazards and assess risks; and
  • - follow procedures for managing the risks associated with specific hazards.


You will learn a range of skills, including:


  • - hand hygiene practices
  • - effective surface cleaning
  • - use of personal protective equipment
  • - disposal of contaminated waste
  • - hazard identification, control and reporting
  • - appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
  • - knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission


Upon successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the nationally accredited qualification: ‘HLTSS00064 Infection Control Skill Set'.
